I discovered Joyce Landorf 39 years ago after my mother died. I have listened to this so often I can practically recite it word for word. I’ve read her books, watched her film series & have purchased this CD for friends & family members, which is why I’m grateful I found this one. I enjoy her sense of humor in the midst of a sensitive subject like dealing with loss. Joyce gives advice on what to say and what not to say when paying your respects to someone grieving. It doesn’t take your pain away but helps you realize there are stages of grief you may go through. I still like to share it even if a person learns just one thing from hearing it. A MUST READ for anyone who has lost someone, grieved with someone who has lost someone, and any one who visits the bereaved. ABSOLUTELY a MUST for anyone who works with the bereaved - doctors, nurses, counselors, pastors etc. A wonderful book!
I purchased this book for a friend who is grieving the loss of her son. I read the book before giving it to her to ensure it was appropriate. I learned a lot from reading the book and felt better about my own feelings regarding death. I would definitely recommend this book.
i didnt expect it to come with torn jacket and worn look to it, but the reading content was just what our family needed

Great gift for grieving friends. I've read this book several times for myself and have given away many copies to friends who have lost a loved one--great help and comfort.
I first read this book in 1978 when we lost our 14 month old daughter. I was raised a Christian but like many young people I walked away. I went looking for help, I was slowly dying inside. I purchased a book by a woman who lost her son to leukemia. She wrote the book two years after his death and was still desolate & had a hard time functioning. I knew that if I didn't find some answers, I would be dead of grief in two years.
I went searching for a different book, Mourning Song was recommended to me at a Christian bookstore.
This book saved my life, helped me to understand that the emotions & feelings I was having were normal. Joyce's word's over time helped me to heal.
I totally disagree with the woman who said to not give it to a grieving person.
In the last 34 years I've given away many of these books, have no idea how many. Going to buy more to give away.
